WORLD BEHIND MY WALL

People think I'm strong but really, underneath this shell lies two very different personalities. Ever wondered why you could never figure me out? That's because you're not seeing the two personalities as being separate from each other. One of them is tough, bitter, disillusioned, swears, and doesn't want anything to do with insufferable bloody idiots; The other one is innocent, forever hopeful, idealistic, loves fairytales and looks forward to finding the perfect man. Both of them know that the perfect man is: 1) NOT an idiot. 2) Enjoys and appreciates their sense of humour. 3) Can handle her mood swings. 4) Able to keep up with her or, better yet, be one step ahead of her sometimes.

All these memories...

How time flies...
The day I went to Vivocity, I had to take the CW3 bus service into Singapore. As the bus went past Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim, I was overwhelmed by the memories I had at that place. It was close to my dad's place, you see. And I remember, years ago, walking under that fly-over in the early morning, when the sun hadn't even risen yet. Walking past those immensely tall bushes (they were about 3 meters tall) to get to the bus stop which was never illuminated. I was always afraid of the Walk. Always. The ground under the fly-over was uneven and I had to watch my step the best I could. I was plagued by my fear of seeing some unearthly hand reaching out from the ground and grabbing my foot. It was an irrational fear, no doubt, but I was 10, at the most. Looking at the Walk and those seemingly scary bushes again, after many years, I don't find them intimidating anymore. I remember once stepping on a dead cat and upon reaching home, forgot about it and trod on the carpet at home. Afterwards, I never dared to tread on that carpet again. Actually I was not sure if I had really stepped on the cat but I had a thought that if part of the cat's dead body was transferred onto the carpet, that would mean that part of the cat's soul was on it too and that frightened me. Traveling between my two homes in Singapore and JB had become a norm for me. The trips were always tiring because I often had to help my mom carry our provisions over to our home in JB. But now, I don't think I would mind so much if I could only be given a chance to do so with my mom again. Walking across the Causeway, struggling with the weight of our provisions... What I wouldn't give to walk side by side with my mom again or just hear her nag at me.
